“Hey. I’m sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. I know you said it’s fine but - just - sorry, okay? Things have been a bit crazy, but I want to make this more of a priority. I really loved listening to your last voice-note. I’m just on the train back from the office. Sorry if you can hear - there’s a really annoying man shouting. He’s got his phone on speaker. Ugh. Anyway, how are you? What’s going on in your life? I know you said you were struggling a bit with that stuff with your friends. I’m sorry to hear that. It sounds frustrating. Like - I totally get why you’re feeling so shit about it all. It sucks. Like - if John or Katie had done that I’d be pissed. I mean pissed. So yeah - hang in there. You deserve better. Like much better. And you were at your parents’ last weekend, right? I saw your post. I hope that was nice. Long train ride though. Hope that was okay too. I hope Carys is okay. I hope you’re still liking it in the new place. And you started some new medication, right? I think you said that. Hope that’s going okay. And I’m still on for the 13th. Next month. I’ll be there. Um. What else? Yes. My life. You asked. I’m busy - I already said that. Work’s just been a bit crazy, and I’m trying to plan this picnic thing for Gabby’s birthday and it’s stressing me out because no-one is replying to my messages and it’s like - do I have to do this whole thing by myself. You know. But yeah - whatever. I’m enjoying my life, mostly. I love it in Edinburgh. Literally best city I’ve ever lived in. You have to come. Please come. Let’s get something booked. I love you. I hope you’re doing good, or at least better. Speak soon. I promise my next voice-note will be sooner than this one.” * “Hey. I - uh - don’t really know why I’m sending this. I guess I just wanted to say I love you, and you mean a lot to me. And I’m sorry - I should’ve - I should-” * “Hi again. It’s me. I’m back. So I’ve been going to a pottery class. You’d be so impressed. It’s run by that guy - Jack? The one you matched with. He’s actually quite nice. We were wrong about him. And I’m going to try and make a bowl. It’s going to be better than that stupid ugly bowl I made last time. You are so good at it. How? I don’t get it. Anyway, I’ve been reading those books you recommended me. I’m a slow reader, but I’m getting through them. Well - yeah. I - uh - Bye. I love you.” * “Me again. I got a new job! I’m really excited about it actually - like - it’s way better than my last job. I feel like I could actually have some work-life balance this time. Who would have thought? Unbelievable. You’d like my manager. He’s into all the same boring bands that you like. I was telling him about you. Anyway, I spoke to Carys yesterday. She’s doing okay. I’m still reading. Also - get this - I’m going to the park for a walk every morning. I’m taking a multivitamin. I have a gym membership. You should be proud of me. And Edinburgh is beautiful in summer. Anyway. I’ve got to go. I’m getting a train. I love you.”
